Every journey has a destination. What is the destination of the Christian journey? Is it a stairway to heaven, a golden ticket to enter the pearly gates? Yes, it is these things and we look forward to an eternity in God's presence, but the real destination, the true goal of the Christian journey is not simply getting into heaven. For us, we understand the goal of the journey to be a life lived in the present that is filled with the love of God and the love of our neighbor.
Jesus said, "“You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your being, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You must love your neighbor as you love yourself. All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.”
Matthew 22:37-40 (Common English Bible)
We trust that God's Holy Spirit is working in us, changing our hearts to soften them, to enlarge them, to fill them with His love. As we journey through the ups and downs of life, we learn to love God and we grow in our ability to love all people with God's kind of love. When we are filled with this love, there is no room left for selfishness, sin, or doubt. We become joyful, grateful, and hopeful. Living filled with God's love in this manner is truly heaven. This is our hope, this is our goal, this is the destination we are journeying toward.
Join us and take the journey to the wholeness of life lived filled with God's love, it'll be the journey of your LIFE!
